A few places on and around I-70 in St Charles and St Peters have remnants of very old signage, perhaps original from the highway's opening in 1956. Old button BGS on I-59 for I-65. The control city of Huntsville is obviously a cover-up, most likely of Decatur. When this sign was installed, Decatur may have been the bigger of the two cities, but in the years since, Huntsville's growth and national presence has outstripped Decatur's and so the state saw fit to redo the sign. | 2009-01-03 |
