[icons/icon_arrow.png] Overhead BGS for US 68, I-24 exit 16. Night photo; sign appears to be floating. 2001-02-17
[icons/icon_shield.png] Krebs Station Rd. in southern McCracken County is signed as KY 999. Clever misguided teenagers could hang this sign upside-down in their hangout. 2007-07-17
[icons/icon_arrow.png] BGS, I-24 exit 11 (Husband Rd) near Paducah. 2003-11-22
[icons/icon_shield.png] Old KY 381 and 339 shields in Sedalia. There was a time when most three-digit state route shields in Kentucky were round and used a narrow font, which sometimes appeared hand-painted. 2007-07-17
[icons/icon_arrow.png] Recently, new attractions signs were installed at the Paducah exits, using the new Clearview font. These signs replaced older, nonstandard-size signs. This is one now standing at exit 11. 2006-10-02
[icons/icon_arrow.png] I-24 exit 7 (Whitehaven). This is the overhead leading up to the exit. 2006-10-02
[icons/icon_arrow.png] Sign gantry, over the exit 7 ramp. This was taken looking southward. This is an odd interchange. The ramp leads to one intersection (US 62), continues onto another with US 45, then back onto I-24. 2006-08-08
[icons/icon_arrow.png] BGS, I-24 exit 4 (US 60/Hinkleville Rd) in Paducah. 2006-10-02
[icons/icon_arrow.png] Clearview recreational sign at Exit 4. 2006-10-02
[icons/icon_arrow.png] At I-24 exit 3, heading east, one encounters this assembly. Note that "Kentucky Dam" is used as a control for I-24. I believe this is the only place eastbound 24 uses that. 2006-05-26
[icons/icon_arrow.png] Entrance to Julian M. Carroll Purchase Parkway at the north end of the US 641 Spur. 2003-11-22
[icons/icon_arrow.png] BGS, Purchase Pkwy exit 43. 2003-11-22
[icons/icon_arrow.png] BGS, Purchase Pkwy exit 47 (Draffenville/Aurora/Lakes Region). The signage at this exit has changed a lot from its original incarnation. Until a few years ago there was one large BGS displaying all the information for the exit, including a lot of tourist information. Now, the sign is preceded by this brown sign giving information on recreation opportunities. 2003-11-22
[icons/icon_arrow.png] BGS, Purchase Parkway at I-24. 2003-11-22
[icons/icon_arrow.png] The Purchase Parkway begins cosigned with US 51 at the Tennessee border in Fulton. The weigh station, as well as KY 116/166, are accessed via Exit 0. 2005-07-30
[icons/icon_arrow.png] Overheads at the junction of US 41 Alternate and I-24 in Christian County. Kentucky signs this road as 41 Alternate, while Tennessee signs it as 41A. Interestingly, Kentucky's official highway map shows it as 41A, also. 2004-03-15
[icons/icon_arrow.png] I-24's last exit in Kentucky, in southern Christian County. Please excuse the antenna visible in the shot. 2004-03-15
[icons/icon_shield.png] US 641 Business, KY 121, KY 1550 shields, Murray. 2003-11-22
[icons/icon_shield.png] Conserving directional banners on US 641/KY 121 in Murray. This is not uncommon in Kentucky. 2003-11-22
[icons/icon_shield.png] KY 402 in Marshall County was KY 80 until the 68/80 improvement project was undertaken recently and 80 was rerouted southward toward Murray. The change became official in July 2002; the signs remained like this until fall 2006, when the "Formerly 80" was removed. 2006-08-08
[icons/icon_shield.png] A variety of shields together on Irvin Cobb Drive in Paducah. This photo was taken from the parking lot of the Holman House Cafeteria, a fantastic restaurant. The green shield is for the Business Loop of I-24. 2003-11-22
[icons/icon_shield.png] Shields for US 641 and 641 Spur, plus a trailblazer for the Purchase Parkway, on the outskirts of Benton. 2006-08-08
[icons/icon_shield.png] Shields at the intersection of US Hwys. 41 and 41A in downtown Hopkinsville. This is the northern terminus of 41 Alternate. 2004-03-15
[icons/icon_shield.png] These are at the same intersection as those in the previous photo. The highway department tried to keep this setup as simple as possible, but it still looks strange. If they hadn't done it this way, I suppose that the resultant signage would be extremely confusing. 2004-03-15
[icons/icon_shield.png] Shields on 68/80 for the Hopkinsville bypass. 2004-03-15
[icons/icon_misc.png] Distance sign on Purchase Parkway. 2003-11-22
[icons/icon_misc.png] The Purchase Parkway has been designated as the eventual route of I-69 through southwest Kentucky. I suspect that once the roadways north of the Parkway's terminus are upgraded, the change will be easy, as the Parkway seems to already be interstate-grade. This photo is of one of the "Future I-69" signs posted in early 2006. 2006-08-08
[icons/icon_scene.png] This is where the ticket machine used to be, on the onramp to the Purchase Parkway from US 641 Spur. When I was a kid I thought the whole toll system was really cool. Tolls were removed from this parkway in the early 1990s. 2003-11-22
